All day port of call for the Island of Rhodes. So wakeup call wasn't until 6:30 am! The local tour guides were
on strike, so our Globus director had a bus available. Bus drove us to the town of Lindos, where some of the
tour group went up to see the classical ruins and then took a donkey ride down. After Lindos we went back to
Old Town of Rhodes which is a medieval city built in the 12th century by crusaders. After walking through the
town we went back to the ship and relaxed for the afternoon and evening.
Morning port of call was the Island of Greece. We went on the "Taste of Crete" tour which was to a winery and
then to a little town to watch some traditional Greek dancing. Have to say it was my least favorite tour, and I
never really got a feel for Crete.
Afternoon port of call was Santorini and a tour of Oia I have to say it was as beautiful as expected and as
everyone has seen in pictures. I can't imagine living there, but in the summer it would be beautiful. The
houses almost all painted white, the blue dome churches, the narrow streets, and spectacular views are
everything you could want in a vacation spot.
Back in Athens and a morning tour of the Acropolis. I have to say that I might have been tired, but I wasn't as
awed as I was expecting to be. Maybe after the Roman forum, it's hard to compare - and Ephesus. Most of
us fell asleep on the bus drive through the city, so we cut the tour short Everyone met for dinner at Dionysos
restaurant at the bottom of the Acropolis. Great food and great view of the Acropolis at night.
